Senzokuhle Youth Project
'We are doing good things'
SENZOKUHLE PROJECT MANAGER – VUSI MAPHALALA
Senzokuhle Value Based Life Skills Project (VBLS) is a major focus of Philakahle, promoting informed decision-making and strong morals within classrooms across the area. The program follows national policy recommendations regarding participation in school, awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS, and the self-worth of each and every child.
Through classroom lessons youth leaders are identified and mentored to empower and ensure change can continue into the future.
The Senzokuhle Program reaches out to 7 local schools. Participants in the Senzokuhle Project are more likely to attend tertiary school than the local average, motivated by the understanding of their self-worth, and the determination to bring their dreams to reality.
Philakahle believes every child deserves the opportunity to reach their potential through a childhood, which includes love, support and hope for a better future.

The Rookdale Youth Club got the opportunity to be educated by our Youth Health and Gardening office here at Philakahle, and they managed to start their own garden using material sponsored by Philakahle. These pictures show the process from them receiving the material, usage of the material and starting of the garden, and the last picture shows the final product.
